In cooperation with the Department for Architecture and Urban Design (MA19) and the City Archaeology the Department for Geographical Data Processing of the City of Vienna (MA14-ADV/GDV) has developed a GIS-Internet-Service that presents the city map with thematic layers and
information about remarkable objects (buildings, archaeological findings) as well as an architecture guide 'Vienna around 1900'. The system offers real-time cartography by accessing different geodatabases, a customized topic selection and direct access to original data - so newly collected data is immediately available in the net. The MA19 photo archive and building directory stores information of about 50000 buildings (age of building, architect, characteristic features). An integrated address finder is used for orientation. By overlaying archaeological detailed maps and the historical atlas 'Franziszeischer Kataster' with the electronic city map you can examine the urban development through the centuries.
