Optimising digital library for national heritage as cultural managing device

Heritage is something that has been inherited by our ancestor. It has a sophisticated and uniqueness value that differentiates one nation/community to another. Unfortunately, globalisation issue has become a nightmare with its global culture impact. Plenty of country has been announced an action to prevent their national heritage from the extinction in the global world.
In order to maintain a cultural heritage, all people are responsible. Knowledge could be categorized in tacit and explicit knowledge, and so does cultural heritage. We need a tool for gathering and managing our tacit and explicit cultural heritage. It is important for us to seek an appropriate way to accomplish this task.
By the development of technology, in particular information technology, a newly alternative for gathering and managing various kind of information has been provided. In this case, information about cultural heritage could be managed as effective as possible.
Currently, Indonesia's National Digital Library has promoted a new variant of its network namely Digital Library for National Heritage. One of its aims is to connect the resources of Indonesian cultural heritage. The first version Digital Library for National Heritage has been launched successfully. But it still needs to be optimised as a device for managing cultural heritage in Indonesia, regarding to the various resources that could contribute valuable and significance informations.
Key words: Cultural Heritage Management, Indonesia Digital Library Network, Digital Library for National Heritage
