An
image database was developed, which allows typology to be
done by Drag 'n Drop. Most programmes for evaluation start
with data already prepared. How this data were obtained is
not of importance.
On the contrary, our programme package WinSerion in connection
with image database Montelius implements the collection of
data on a level much more below, thus speeding up the whole
data entry process enormously.
Image database Montelius is directed towards an archaeological
typology and emphasizes a bi-modal view of the data.
· The closed find units necessary for chronology are
visible after the data entry process.
· All images in the find units can be brought automatically
into a raw typological view, using the information entered.
From that starting point a detailed typology can be prepared
easily by Drag 'n Drop.
· The main advantage over a conventional typology is
an acceleration of the typology process of to about a hundred-fold.
· Based on the two views of the data all further evaluations
of a simple or more complex statistics are only "some
minutes away".
