Implications of Information Technology in Conservation and Tourism

Information technologies' (IT) application enables conservation, processing and exchange of data, knowledge and experience, as well as a faster and more efficient implementation of every task. Therefore, development and application of information technologies have a special importance.
Heritage is a broad concept encompassing landscapes, historic places, sites and built environments, as well as biodiversity, collection, past and continuing cultural practices, knowledge and living experiences. It records and expresses the long processes of historic development, forming the essence of diverse national, regional, indigenous and local identities and is an integral part of modern life.
Today, the protection, conservation, interpretation and presentation of the heritage and cultural diversity of any particular place or region is an important challenge for people everywhere. However, management of that heritage, is usually the responsibility of the particular community.
This paper will be focusing on issues related to conservation and tourism and the application of information technology in achieving the goals:
-The understanding of the terms conservation and tourism
-The current scenario of events world wide and in India in particular.
-The use of information technology in present conditions in India and abroad.
