Many
historic and quite a number of immovable heritage sites in
Nigeria have survived for centuries with their original fabric
intact. Some of these are ruins, coastal beaches, ancient
habitation, caves and rock shelters, earthworks and moats,
and other objects of archaeological interest.
But many of these are being defaced of pilfered on a daily
basis. It is the belief of the writer that some identified
strategies if adopted could help to better manage and preserve
effectively these non-newable legacy more especially as we
are moving into the 21st century.
