The
artefacts of Denisova Cave were brought together into a database
in the form of a dual matrix, which took into account stratigraphic
position, morphology, petrophysical and petrographical parameters.
To understand the dependency between certain types of raw
material and the tool types, correlation graphs were built
on a unified database of 1,488 pieces, irrespective to the
location or cultural-chronological position of the tool forms.
The graphs involved six basic rocks which were used for the
making of the tools of Denisova Cave: sandstones, aleurolite,
jasperoid, hornfels, aphyric effusives, and porphyric effusives.
Connection between some types of raw material and some tool
forms can be traced with a fair degree of certainty.
